Today's Wordle is a word game similar to the TV show Lingo.
You get 6 tries to guess a 5-letter target word. After each guess, the letters light up in various colors as clues. Green means a letter is correct in this spot; yellow means a letter is elsewhere in the target word; gray means a letter is not in the target word at all.
Where are the words coming from?
Word Selection
The target words are carefully selected from Peter Norvig's English word frequency list (top ~25,000 words). The list has been filtered to remove:
- Obscure words
- Plural forms
- Conjugated verbs
- Inappropriate content
- British spellings
Validation
For guess validation, the game uses a modified version of the North American Scrabble Tournament Word List (OTCWL).
